RECORD LABELS

12K
Taylor Deupree's fine library of minimal sound just keeps getting bigger, and what's more interesting is that it keeps getting better too! Fantastic label.

ALIEN TRANSISTOR

ATP
Is it a festival? Is it a label? Well truth be told it's both, and it's all damned good.

BACKGROUND
Absolutely sterling work from minimal tech gods Background. Akufen, Sutekh, Portable and so much more - glitches never sounded so sexy.

BELLA UNION
The Cocteau Twins' sublime imprint with releases from the gorgeous Laura Veirs and the crushing Explosions in the Sky among others. A little bit of warmth and love in the grey old music scene.

BETA BODEGA
Miami's finest, uncompromising, devastating electronic imprint run by a mysterious crew of freedom fighters with a sturdy ideological belief and an impeccably tuned ear. With its hip hop offshoot Botanbica Del Jibaro and electronic trickery on Rice and Beans, these lot are a force to be reckoned with - educate yourself now.

BPITCH CONTROL
If spasmodic electrosizzled spannered dance muzak is what you’re after, look no further. Run by the delectable Ellen Alien, Bpitch is fast accumulating an unbeleivably wide cannon of work, acts like Mode Selektor, Smash TV, Kiki, Trike and Ms Alien herself propelling us into the future with a lightening bolt. Lovely flash-heavy site, if you have a fast connection you’ll have fun here.

BPITCH CONTROL

CARPARK
Drive in here for classics from Casino vs. Japan and Marumari. Multi Storey American eclecticism.

Our very own label, run in collaboration with our closest friend Thaddi Herrmann in Berlin. Due an imminent revamp, visit our website for new release info and tour dates, plus the odd surprise.

CLAPPING MUSIC
Endearing French experimentations from Clapping Music, the home of Boomkat faves Encre.

COMMUNITY LIBRARY
Paul 'Strategy' Dickow's fabulously unpredictable US imprint. Wherelse would you find a jazz act next door to squelchy electro and minimal electronica?

CONSTELLATION
Godspeed! You Black Emperor's absolutely unmissable imprint. Classic home made packaging and deep symphonic post rock sounds.

DEF JUX
Alternative hiphop without the boring bits; EL-P's now classic imprint - great website too.

DEKORDER
The weird, the wild and the wonderful; oddness all round from avant gardesters dekorder.

DEVICE ELECTRONIC ENTERTAINMENT
Home of some of the finest electro and electro-pop in the world today, run by a certain Mr Datathief, known to the world for his work for Skam, Beta Bodega etc.. and his design work as Studio Moo.

DIE SCHACTEL
We like them very much; gorgeous packaging and even better music - look no further for the very best in early electronics.

DIN
Fantastic Berlin label, run by a couple of unnamed and unarmed operatives from Berlin’s infamous Hardwax camp. The label has kept to the most stringent principles of the underground, and has given us the very first releases from artists like Arovane, Pole, Dynamo and Log, as well as some unique material from Robert Henke’s Monolake project. All with minimal fuss.

DOMINO
Another one of the giant independant's, a gargantuan catalogue that reaches from Bonny Prince Billy to Pavement, Fizzarum, Max Tundra and the wonderful Hood. Lush website too.

DRAG CITY
Our favourite American psych-folksters with so many good artists it's pointless to even begin listing them.

DRECK
London's Kompakt fuelled chop up gods. Dancefloor, but hold the cheese, this stuff is as tight and credible as they come.

EASTERN DEVELOPMENTS
Known under a variety of aliases (Prefuse 73, Savath and Savallas, Delarosa and Asora), Scott Herren has fast become one of the most highly acclaimed pioneers of the cut-up hip hop aesthetic and diverse electronic sound – with releases on labels like Warp, Hefty and Schematic under his belt. Eastern Developments is co-run by Herren and a close group of friends, bringing us wonderfully diverse music from the likes of Dabrye, Daedalus, Hu Vibrational, Kopernik, Amon Contact, Ahmed Szabo and more. Lovely site too.

ECM
What needs to be said about ECM? Without them, we would be lacking a crucial part of music history.

FAT CAT
Brought to the mainstream with the UK debut from Iceland’s Sigur Ros, Fat Cat have relentlessly stuck to their decidedly experimental guns and continue to bring to light trailblazing works from a slew of international artists, alongside future-pop hits from the likes of Iceland’s Mum. Dave Howell’s ongoing split-series still remains an eye-opening collection of some of the worlds most extreme deviant music, back to delicate electroaccoustic emissions. Hugely influential – check the site for lots of info on the label, and the industry in which they work.

FONAL
One of the finest labels around at the moment. Bringing the sounds of Finland out into the big wide world and making it a better place.

FYM / BOOGIZM
This inspired label has been rockin our world for the last couple of years. The spirits have obviously helped these guys out, they're totally huge and destined for even bigger and better things. Dabrye was only the beginning.

HEADZ
Japanese purveyors of the highest quality experimental music.

HEFTY
Jon Hughes' fabulous imprint, home of the great Telefon Tel Aviv and Jon Hughes' own Slicker project.

HEY
In many ways the most obscure of all the Berlin labels operating today, Hey have raised themselves on a diet of electronica, dub and swiss alpine music. Accordions sit next to Space Echo unit’s and old man’s narratives – utterly charming and tragically overlooked, do us a favour, check them out!

HOBBY INDUSTRIES
Run and curated by Thomas Knack, aka Opiate, a man who had been thrust into the limelight following his production and writing work on Bjork’s Vespertine LP. Based in Denmark, Hobby Ind brings to life advanced electronic listening music of the highest calibre. Manual, Dub Tractor, Orchard, Goodiepal, Future Three and Opiate himself make up this imprint’s impressive roster. Check out the site for information on upcoming releases plus an excellent selection of the label's own favoured listening.

HOT AIR
More Manchester mayhem, this time run by obliq operator Mr Matt Wand, head honcho of the now sadly defunct Stock Hausen and Walkman. Always subverting expectations with large doses of innovation and humour – artists on board include – Los Samplers (Atom Heart), Janeck Schaefer, The Rip Off Artist, Dummy Run and Mr Wand himself under an army of aliases including the aforementioned Stock Hausen and Walkman. KIN
The original home of the wonderful Junior Boys. More exciting stuff to come in 2006.

KLANG
Together with Playhouse and Ongaku this formiddable collective has been one of the most important German Techno labels over the last 5 years. Baby Ford and Sikora supply the four to the floors, while Farben quietly invented Micro House and Bergheim 34 decided that there was no need to stick to any single discernable genre. Even the Human league have made an appearance....at the home of cool.

KOMAPKT
Run by superstar deejay Michael Meyer and Wolfgang Voigt (yes he of Mike Ink / Gas fame) - The Kompakt imprint is at a ripe old age and continues to charge through the world of Cologne techno and all it’s associated subgenres at an alarming rate. MOTEER
Moteer is the Remote Viewer's very own little imprint. With its insistance on "occasional" releases rather than a set agenda, and with a catalogue two-items thick and impeccably conceived, you should definately visit here from time to time to see what's in store.

MUSH
Mush was always quite an odd name for a label, but releasing CloudDead was always going to require a little 'special' treatment.

Be afraid! Operating outta Stockport’s Edgeley community, V/VM first came to attention with their ‘0161’ compilation collaboration with fellow Mancs – Skam. An undeniably odd fellow, and we love him anyway. Great folk music is always hard to find, but he has the voice, the touch and the look.

BROADCAST
Birmingham is great isn't it? Without it we wouldn't have the Balti, Black Sabbath and of course, the very lovely Broadcast. The midlanders answer to Stereolab!

CLARO INTELECTO
Our most hotly-tipped new artist on the scene today...If it's Detroit lushness, crunchy electro or Chicago House that you're after, no one produces like this kid does!! Check him out.

COBRA KILLER
OK so they have bums on their covers... but apart from that the music is superb, and endorsed by Thurston Moore dontcha know. Well there you have it.

Sometimes music can just get a little bit too kooky, but Cocorosie get the balance right and stay safely in the realm of 'very good music'. We like them a lot.

DEAF CENTER
The home listening kings of Norway, we know they have all the oil; but they make damned fine music too. Spooky sounds ahoy.

DEVANDRA BANHART
An artist who can truly be said to be leading the 'New Weird America' scene. He's got a beard and sometimes wears a dress (ok... it's probably a sarong, so sue me...) and sounds a bit like Marc Bolan, but we love him all the same!

ES
Finland is a cold place, and dark, but for some reason they are throwing the most intense and original music we've heard for ages. How's about that then? Mr. Es is actually the boss of Fonal records too... and his music is totally fabuloucious.

JUNIOR BOYS
One of our favourite bands, and the only people we know to blend an 80s pop sound with glitchy beats and pull it off convincingly.

Valerie from Puna and her band of merry men are always welcome in these offices, and what a lovely website to go with the lovely music.

SUFJAN STEVENS
To create an album for each of the 50 States of America is a pretty huge project to embark on, but Mr. Stevens' music is just so damned lovely that we really want him to complete this task. 50 Sufjan Stevens albums sounds like a bloody good night in to us!

SUNBURNED HAND OF THE MAN
Psych, improv, drone-rock, free blah blah, call it what you like - it's ace and we're addicted. This site is especially useful as you can keep track of the Sunburned releases, always a bonus when there are only 3 copies of an album available!
