Back in stock! The original hyperdub duo make their presence felt in 2008 with a return to the melancholy off-kilter steppers style they came to define some 4 years back with that awesome run of tracks from 'sign of the dub' to 'backward'. 'Konfusion' is notable for the reappearance of in-house MC Spaceape, returning to curl his ghostly drawl around 9's darkside dubbers riddim in fine style. The track itself makes no effort to challenge any of the big rave hitters currently dominating the scene, and is so so so much better for it - instead relying on Mr 9's knack for moody blue bomb squad style dissonance in that archetypal Hyperdub style, minimal steppers meditations that hold a very special place in our collective memory. Spaceape has come under criticism in recent times, but mostly from heads that think a dubstep MC should be a lively fella with a big bag of catchphrases, but thankfully he sticks to his guns and provides the perfect layer of sliced banana to Kode's peanut-butter-on-toast riddim, proper chewy styles. Best Hyperdub in a while - and another absolute killer.
