A follow up to the widely lauded Antony Hegarty-produced Songs From The Coalmine Canary album, this second album from Little Annie is a covers record. Teaming up with pianist Paul Wallfisch, Annie flaunts her torch singer credentials on an array of ballads - some of which make for more obvious selections than others. Alongside poignant, jazzy renderings of pieces like 'Yesterday When I Was Young' and 'It Was A Very Good Year', there are a few eyebrow raisers too. It's always a good idea to sidestep convention on these sorts of records, and sure enough Annie tackles oddities like Tina Turner's 'Private Dancer' (here transformed into an electronically-enhanced cabaret piece) and U2's 'I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For', which fits the format perfectly, largely due to Annie's tremendously expressive, dynamic vocal.
