Blood & Fire the lynchpin of the Uk revival scene anchor everything firmly with this double header of some of the most spiritual, late seventies dubwise music. These two albums record a 'dub conference' between the head of all youths in reggae music, the late great Dennis Emmanuel Brown as producer and original vocalist, and Prince [soon to be King] Jammy as mixing engineer at the untouchable King Tubby's studios. Originally released within a few months of each other in 1978, the 'UMOJA' album versions some classic Dennis - tunes like 'The Half', 'Troubled world' and 'Children of Israel/Listen To The Wise Words' all present and even more stunning here in their version forms, alongside tunes like 'Cool Runnings' a dub piece to Lennox Brown's recut of 'Frozen soul' from studio one. Out of print since its original small pressing run, the first ten tracks alone are reason enough for a look in. The second half here, drawn from the equally excellent '20th Century DEBwise' full length, is Jammy at his best stripping back Junior Delgado and Tamlins rhythms to become dangerous, raw and heavy music. Also check the bonus dub version of possibly Dennis' all time greatest tune [some claim] 'Want To Be No General'. All never before on CD and very very hard to find on plastic these days. You know what to do!
