This duo comprises Songs of Norway members, Aaron Moore (also of Volcano The Bear) and Stewart Brackley who provide a hefty drumkit & bass assault in the mode of bands like Lightning Bolt and Noxagt. The pair also share vocal duties that conjure a chaotic, blissfully unintelligible brand of garage rock, best exemplified on 'Your Success'. There's more experimental fare on here too though, like the dismantled post-rock howl, 'Slow Toms' or 'Piano's squelching distortion and low-end feedback. Dragon Or Emperor's idiosyncratic sound manages to be fun and ferocious in equal measure, adding a sense of playfulness to the potentially very po-faced world of avant-metal.
