VARIOUS / SMALLVILLE - And Suddenly It's Morning, SMALLVILLE

Hamburg's celebrated hub of house and techno, Smallville Records, presents a delicious compilation of the best cuts from their catalogue courtesy of Move D, Lawrence, STL, Lowtec and more. The bijou imprint has been running for some three years now so it seems like an appropriate time to gather the crew together on one disc, displaying the depth and loving warmth of their body of work. Without a doubt, one of the biggest highlights is STL's exclusive 'Neurotransmitting Clouds On The Secret Freeway', a resinous reduction of raw analogue house done proper, while dutch duo Dimi Angélis & Jeroen Search's 'Our Life With The Wave' makes great use of Mike Huckby's Waldorf wave samples on a stirring deep techno trip. Move D & Benjamin Brunn provide the wide eyed house of 'In The Beginning', out on vinyl earlier this year, while label head Lawrence provides the excellent 'Don't Forget' and there's more from Lowtec, Sven Tasnadi, Steinhoff & Hammouda and Christopher Rau, serving suitably hi-end house grooves for the connoisseurs.
