Compiled by the man who likes to go under the name Kenny Dope, this career retrospective takes a look back at the work of Gary Davis under his Chocolate Star guise - specialising in the kind of lost and hard to find cuts that get grown men sweaty with excitement. Based out of Camden, New Jersey, Chocolate Star was an outlet for Gary Davis to flex the musical heritage he had learnt (first hand!) from the likes of Manny Albam and the famed jazz organist Richard "Groove" Holmes who just happened to be his Uncle. Utterly rock solid in its funk-soled disposition, Chocolate Star peppered the public with tight releases that were aimed straight at the dance floor, with 'Got To Get Your Love' a NYC classic and 'Pop' one of the first tracks ever to use a drum-machine beat.
