PLASTIC LITTLE - The Jump Off (Featuring Diplo / Spank Rock), TONEARM

Following on from the rise of Click-crunk and Baltimore Club, the latest Hollertronix associated genre to emerge from the sweaty bosom of the dancefloor is PoMoHiHo - a rather ugly contraction of 'post modern hip-hop'. Whilst you'd be quite justified assuming this to be an aural step too far, where the name suggests some clever-clogs bollocks that's about as much fun as a night on the bleach, the Plastic Little trio actually prove it to be seven-shades of fun; taking the rubbery breed of hip-hop that has been bouncing out of the Dirty South for years now and giving it a hardboiled coating that sees it straddling the state line with the more brusque hip-hop of the Eastern Seaport. As catchy as a summer cold, 'The Jump Off' is bursting with energy, wit and vim, as the Michael Stern produced track comes in sounding like a face-off between Spank Rock, Black Sheep and House of Pain... On the back we get the PJ Harvey sampling 'Now I Holler', wherein Mr. M.I.A. (Diplo) adds some XXX beats whilst MC Spank Rock gets verbal on the mic. Bolstered by clean and instrumental versions, Plastic Little are laying shit like a glass carpet!
