Back in stock! When looking back at the UK's list of number one records, there are surely few sights as seemingly incongruous as that of Mr. Oizo's spell at the peak of the hit-parade with 'Flat Beat' back in 1998. Even bolstered by the marketing muscle of Levi's, is still seems odd that this French purveyor of stripped-down fidgetronica could ever have graced a 'NOW That's What I Call Music!' compilation... Back to the now, and 'Nazis' is a brand new 12" that was originally intended for inclusion on Oizo's last LP 'Moustache' - with the intervening months seeing it subject to some tweaking and a remix from current hot property Justice. Coated in a static squall that fidgets joyously throughout, 'Nazis' is an acid-pecked beat monster - with Oizo taking the rhythm apart from within and reconstructing it on a seemingly rotating basis with all manner of synths, 808's and sun-blistered melodies. Moulded into an electropop thunder-crack on the Justice Remix, 'Nazis' is also backed by a retooled interpretation of 'Half A Scissor' (here called 'Halfanedit') - wherein Oizo disrupts a core of abstract funk and hardboiled techno and manages to walk away with a smile on his face. A killer protest twelve.
