The order of the day here is haunting folk business, lo-fi, odd, outsider, you know the score, right? Imagine a more tuneful Jandek with a sense of humour and an old synthesizer as well as his acoustic geetar and you’ll be on the right lines. In case you were wondering, Spectre Folk is Peter Nolan of the Magik Markers/Wooden Wand etc so you know he has pedigree, this isn’t coming out of nowhere, and even more interestingly, the boy wonder Spencer Yeh (Burning Star Core) appears on Indianana (playing electronics) – lovely. I have learned to accept that this sort of music is not for everyone, despite the fact that personally I find it quite charming and utterly empowering. go figure!
