Most excellent beat workings from Clonious aka Paul Movahedi making a big splash on Ubiquity with his 'Adroit Adventures' debut 12" backed with an essential Dorian Concept remix. A product of the fertile Red Bull Academy - a modern greenhouse of sorts for young producers - Clonious comfortably rolls in with the sort of Beat Dimensions crew personified by Jay Scarlett, Samiyam or Floating Points with jazzy post-Dilla influences shot through with bleeding edge production methods and a thick helping of sunny soul. You couldn't ask for a better introduction than 'Foggy Spacesuit', setting his stall as a relaxed soul, not feeling the need to get heavy on the edits like many of that scene, instead working with rich subbass driven rhythms and cool jazz leanings for a chilling club cut while 'One At A Time' features Hud Mo collaborator Musinah lending her vocals to a glorious soul soaked viber with shades of Flying Lotus. Dorian Concept's remix of 'Emora' puts the finishing touch on a class EP with a typically screwed and non-linear structure, sounding like 2 different bands playing 4 alternating time signatures chopped by a robot DJ. It's heady stuff that we're sure you'll get a kick out of. Tip!
