Brand new tracks from Vladislav Delay, Efterklang, Essie Jain, Icy Demons and Murcof are bundled together, with only a couple of tracks having surfaced previously. A Hawk And A Hacksaw's contribution to the compilation is one such track: 'Kertész', gives a flavour of their recent Délivrance LP, sounding eccentric and brilliant sandwiched in between Nancy Elizabeth's mournful 'Tow The Line' and Efterklang's magnificently vast 'Frida Found A Friend', performed in collaboration with the Danish National Orchestra. At the more electronic end of the Leaf catalogue, Murcof supplies a ten-minute dark ambient electroacoustic outing, intertwining loose, straggly string and woodwind instruments in a creepy digital web, while Vladislav Delay's 'Melankolia' incorporates fractured exchanges between upright bass and piano into an almost free-time configuration of abstract beats, all produced to Sasu Ripatti's customarily exquisite standards. A great cross-section of the Leaf catalogue with a rock-bottom price tag, picking up one of these should be a no-brainer.
