Re-released with a bonus disc that features the legendary 1991 Peel session and extra tracks, 'Just For A Day' is yet further proof of Slowdive's almost total monopoly of the sound which has gone on to cast the template for many of today's most respected artists. Still very much Slowdive in their rhythmical days, songs like 'Spanish Air' and 'Celia's Dream' are HUGE, taking tsunamis of chiming soundscapes then massaging them with beatific vocals, insistent strings and a self-professed Kevin Shields affliction to produce a noise which is still capable of bringing an awe-inspired tear to the eye. If proof were needed of Slowdive's astonishing legacy, then 'Just For a Day' is a whole High Court's worth of evidence. Of the bonus material, 'Catch The Breeze', 'Shine' and 'Golden Hair' sound gorgeous for their Maida Vale make-over, whilst the inclusion of the eponymous debut EP seems to suggest they were born this good. Absolute classic.
