A follow-up to 2004's 'Princess Nicotine - Folk and Pop Music of Myanmar (Burma) Vol. 1', 'Guitars Of The Golden Triangle' was recorded in the early 1970's at various locations around the Shan State of North East Burma. Known as 'The Golden Triangle' for its poppy growing reputation (nod nod, wink wink), the artists featured make a heady blend of pysch rock, blues/folk ballads and raw country and western that suggests the odd dalliance with their local produce (ALLEGEDLY!). Including artists such as Sain Saing Maw (backbeat orientated rock), Lashio Thein Aung (yeehaa cowboy sound), khun Hia Maunh/Khun Paw Yann and Khnun Kan Chwain (anything from pysch-fug through to borderline metal!), the whole record was retrieved from cassettes; lending a friable sense of stumbling across something that has been lost for a long time.
