Though much of the Moodgadget roster seems to have ties to pop music, or at least more home listening-oriented fare, June's One finds the label eyeing up the dancefloor. The mighty dub-techno bombdrop that is 'Languor' judders into life with a deep, swollen kick sound and shadowy stabs that gradually make their way towards the echo chamber to be thrown around and reflected across the mix in the finest Basic Channel tradition. The production is pretty hard to fault on any level, and while this minimal, reverberant blend isn't by any means a new idea it sounds very fresh here. Riffing on a similar theme, 'Caliginous' offers some more delayed stabs and low-end warble, but this time with fragments of semi-melodic detail scattered throughout the mix. Finally, 'Dub Interlude' and it's follow-up invite a more pared-down, immersive listen for rewarding headphone listening.
