Gang Gang Dance's 'First Communion' is a remarkable slab of experimental pop music in its own right - dabbling in adventurously far-out percussive patterns that draw inspiration from dancehall and Afrobeat, whilst wild no-wave vocals roam free over the top - but throw into the bargain remixing contributions from TV On The Radio and Hot Chip and you've got yourself a very special EP. The former finds Sitek, Adebimpe, Malone et al delivering a crisp and creamy electronic overhaul that's got that glorious, indefinably TVOTR sound to it, while the latter is, as you'd imagine a more dance-friendly affair, cleverly wringing slippery, lolloping rhythms out of the original to great effect.
