COKI - Triple Six, DMZ

Back in stock! The first DMZ 12" of 2008 drops, and it's only December! The bassbin dream team of Coki and Mala haven't been shy on the release front this year, notching up a fair catalogue for a number of labels between them, but have neglected their massively influential DMZ imprint since last years 'Spongebob/The End' spawned a slightly stagnant pond of imitators. In our opinion they've done the right thing, obviously holding off putting anything out through DMZ until it was up to the high levels set by the previous 13 releases and we're very glad to say 'Triple Six & Road Rage' are seething monsters drawn from the very top shelf. If you've witnessed a Coki set in the last half year you'll have no doubt heard 'Triple Six' a sinister stepper with glassy harmonics and spherical sound design that manages to trample over swathes of imitators in one step. Flip over for 'Road Rage' a longtime dance stealer again showing how to do that metallic riffage thing properly, but also benefitting from Coki's innate rhythmic sensilibility that means his razor sharp and interlocking hi-hats just send this out on it's own orbit. It's pretty crazy how this label can put out one 12" at the end of the year and still own the scene like nobody else. F**king marvelous. ESSENTIAL PLATE!
