With the rise and rise of instrumental hip hop in the last couple of years it's quite surprising that the artist making some of the freshest music around is best known as a house music producer. That name is Andres who's best known for his appearances on Kenny Dixon Jnr's KDJ and that other Detroit label Mahogani not forgetting that he has also deejayed for Slum Village. As DJ Dez he drops minimal crisp hip hop moves that are part DJ Spinna and part Theo Parrish except here the snares are a lot crisper. Of the five track's on display here 'Detroit Detour' is the one with it's deadly percussive rides, chopped up drums and fading vocals. Perfect music for kicking back to. A must check.
