It's worth pointing out that Dub Gabriel's previous album was called Bass Jihad, which by anyone's yardstick is an extremely silly title indeed. This one lets its long list of collaborators lead the way, all contributing to a multicultural, pan-global dub fusion album: Yo Majesty and Judith Juillerat are in there, but almost certainly the central talking point on the album is the cover of Suicide's 'Cheree', as fronted by none other than Michael Stipe, who does a cracking job, pulling his weight while the arrangement swells to grand old proportions around him. It's all far, far better than you might have imagined, although it does sit slightly uneasily next to something like the DSP-ed dancehall of 'Mash Out' with Juakali.
