DFA / SUPERSOUL - Nobody Knows Anything: DFA Presents SuperSoul, SuperSoul

Joining forces with Berlin label Supersoul Recordings, DFA's Death From Abroad wing compiles a number of tracks released over the two years of Supersoul's existence, previously available on vinyl or digital formats. Combining artists like Walter Jones, Plastique De Reve, Skatebard and Strangelets, this double-disc collection presents a group of producers influenced as much by the motorik impulse of krautrock as they are by the ultra-fashionable Italo sound. Delve deeper into the label's roster and you'll encounter the primitive acid bleep of Xaver Naudascher on 'Afterlife' and the crisp electro of Max Brannslokker. Almost as widespread as the disco elements, shades of Detroit creep into the compilation too, something you can hear in Skatebard's 'Marimba' or Naudascher's pointedly titled 'Motor City' on the second disc, with its drum fills and vibrant synth presence. A meeting point for both classic and very hip influences, the Supersoul Recordings crew have combined forces for a great couple of hours' worth of distinctive, modern dancefloor electronics.
