"Yoseph" explores the many faces of acid, moving from classic Vibertian / Wagon Christ-ish bouncy hip hop acid funk beats, to dirty late night breaks and some searing sample-editing from the man who can. This is an album that should be played at 6am in the morning for that acid boogie vibe, an assortment of 303's lining-up from end to end, every now and again delving deeper for the breaks and the analog synth action which is in full effect for much of the album.'Liptones' is a subtle and spacy introduction with its slow and minimal beat, heavily reverbed synths and slowly-surfacing 303's, those unmistakable Vibertian bubbling noises and heavy sub pulses leaving their mark. 12" track 'Synthax' relays its jacking beat and crazy ass synths with that mashed all over the place attitude, while 'FreakTimeBaby' comes across like an old school Wagonchrist track with its trademark acid break sound backed by phat drums and the 303 modulating wildly over the top, ace. For highlight's head for'Countdown' with its dub-step vibe which will drop brilliantly on the floor in a 2-step or electro set, 'Noktup' with its flanging bassline and pizzicato style analog synths which roll together to create a heavy vibe, and the excellent title track which is probably the brightest moment on the album, a top break rolling under the 303 and the sampladelic Vibert littrering the song with all manner of weirdness scattered in the background, the drums edited superbly and the track built-up to a killer hook line on the acid tip. Coupled with the storming 'I Love Acid', "Yoseph" is another winner from Vibert, in that cuddly, dayglo, acidic sort of way. Yum.
