JAMES YUILL - No Pins Allowed, Moshi Moshi

A follow-up to his debut single 'No Surprise', James Yuill's 'No Pins Allowed' combines raucous digital beats (sounding not too far away from something that'd crop up on a Kitsune release) with more conventional songwriter type material. In any case, the melodies on this one could be viewed as either supremely catchy or supremely irritating depending on how susceptible to this sort of thing you tend to be. Apparently, Yuill churns this stuff out in a live environment via acoustic guitar and some deft footswitch operation, even managing to pull off a cover of Radiohead's 'Packt Like Sardines In A Crushd Tin Box', a version of which is included here, reducing the original down to a bedroom synth hoedown. Going that extra yard, there's a second B-side ('Breathing In') crammed onto the end, and it's another affable electronic pop ditty, but this time with a more laidback, Tunng-like feel.
