Genius micro sound manipulator Radovan Scascasia delivers his first album for Soul Jazz following on from his winning 12" some weeks back with a killer selection of downtempo floor winners. 'A matter of scale' continues Secondo's legacy as one of the finest micro sound editors in the game with a style that manages to fuse the more cerebral styles of genius producers SND with the disco floor ruled elements of Soundhack, converging at a point somewhere in the middle with a whole load of jazz influenced harmonic and melodic progressions, a heap of dub scaped textures and an unknown quality thrown into the mix to come up with an amazingly unique sound. The tempos are all noticeably in the sub 110bpm range allowing him to construct a mature and unfeasibly intricate architecture of sound that will bear many repeated listens, and should shock a floor to it's core if mixed with the right cuts, by the right DJs. This is easily the furthest thinking release on Soul Jazz in some time and should well be considered as an oddball purchase by those who love the various reissue series and would love to hear the styles edited and amalgamated into a sound 10 years into the future. Killer gear - Highly Recommended.
