Back in stock! It's been far too long since we've seen Joker's name up on these pages but the Bristolian boy wonder has obviously been hard at work judging by this super sick joint for new imprint Soul motive. To be honest the last time i listened to any Joker stuff was an age ago because someone twocked my copy of his killer EP for 'Earwax records last summer, but 'Snake Eater' should remind us all quite how sick this fella is. The track easily warrants the Neptunes comparisons and the bare love from Martin 'Blackdown' Clarke for his fresh grip on how to work that all important swing into his beats, here constructing a massive R'n'G piece with massive stutter edits and lowcut bass that reminds me of the best Diamond Ice or Pharell productions mashed with the distinctly British flavour of Wonder or Wiley for a stonking bit of rhythm science, yeah, i'm excited and you should be too. With all the fuss on the A-side you be forgiven for overlooking the B but TRG has outdone himself with a true 2-step bubbler on 'Move Dis' blending Todd Edwards style itchy funk with warped new-skool bass for probably one of his best efforts yet. A completely essential slab of wax, miss it at your peril people!
